Scope and Content: The Lila Markham Brogden Collection, 1900-1940, consists of club records and correspondence, programs, photographs, newsletters, and budgets.  Lila Brogden was a local schoolteacher, woman’s club leader, and civic leader.  Brogden served as president of the Woman’s Club of Durham, organized in 1923 to “direct the organized effort of the women of the community along intellectual, philanthropic, social and domestic lines.”  The collection includes early club pamphlets, correspondence, and other records.  The collection also contains Durham city budgets, 1939-1940, materials relating to the Durham High School classes of 1900, 1901, and 1916, and graduation memorabilia from Trinity College, Class of 1902.
