    Durham County Library is frequently queried about the value of old books. Unfortunately we, like most public libraries, do not have the expertise on staff to make such evaluations. However, the websites listed below can set the determined seeker on a path which should, in the end, provide a close approximation of current value.

    Bills itself as "the world's largest online marketplace for used, rare, and out-of-print books."

    Alibris

    Offers "over 30 million used, new and hard-to-find titles."

    BookFinder.com

    Claims to have "over 50 million new, used, rare, and out of print books."

    Bublos.com

    Offers a good discussion of many of the sites listed here, orienting the new user to web and non-web resources for rare books.

    Powell's Books

    One of the most famous independent booksellers in the US provides a rich source of information and values for rare materials.

    Researching Your Rare Books

    by the F & M College Library -- This is a guide to researching the value of rare books, prepared by the college for its users.

    The TomFolio Website is a cooperative of international professional dealers in used, out-of-print, and rare books, periodicals, and ephemera.

    Mitchell's OnDemand5 Auto Repair Database

    Often found in professional automotive service centers, this database provides repair information back to 1983 for most domestic and imported cars and light trucks. From airbags to air conditioning, wheel alignment to wiring diagrams, both the do-it-yourselfer and the professional mechanic will likely find the technical help they need to keep on.

    Provides mileage figures for current model years, as well as many additional features related to the cost of operating motor vehicles

    Edmund's Car Prices

    Includes information and prices on new and used cars and trucks. The used car prices date back to those manufactured in 1988. This site also includes safety information, individual car information and comparisons.

    EPA Fuel Economy Guide

    This well-designed site provides MPG listings for 2000 cars, trucks, etc. It includes gas mileage, fuel costs, and greenhouse emissions. It also includes a "Best & Worst" list as well as other information on fuel economy.
