Foundation Directory Online Main Library Only
The Foundation Center's database is one of the primary resources for grant seekers. The database can be searched by specific fields, or can simply be browsed. It is geared to grant seekers who are affiliated with non-profit entitities. It is not set up to assist individuals seeking grant funding for personal projects.

Foundation Grants to Individuals Online Main Library Only
Similar to the Foundation Directory Online, this database is devoted exclusively to foundations that fund individuals (who may or may not be affiliated with non-profit entitities). It is a rich source of information on scholarships, fellowships, grants and awards available to individuals seeking grant funding for personal projects.

Board Source
Formerly the National Center for Nonprofit Boards, this site offers information for nonprofit board members.

Chronicle of Philanthropy
Biweekly newspaper that covers philanthropy. Recent news articles are available and some past issues. They are organized by subject area and also includes conference, job and grant deadline listings. The Durham County Library has print copies from 1997 to the present.

Council on Foundations
A nonprofit membership association of grantmaking foundations and corporations. Site includes Foundation News and Commentary and foundation web sites.

Energize Inc for Volunteer Coordinators
Resources for leaders of volunteers. Provides guidance on volunteer management, with helpful tips and information on key conferences and events.

Foundation Center
DCL is a Foundation Center Cooporating Collection. Clearinghouse for nonprofit information, including links to grant maker home pages, listing of Foundation Center cooperating collections by state, a proposal writing short course, and a searchable bibliography on nonprofit resources. Also provides lists of the top foundations by asset size and total grants (updated annually).

Resource that matches businesses that want to donate surplus inventory and equipment with nonprofits who are looking for this material.

Guidestar--Guide to Charities and Nonprofits
Provides addresses and financial information on over 620,000 charities. Also makes 990 forms available. Site includes a FAQ on what to do if a charity won't give you its tax returns.

Internet Nonprofit Center
Good source for information on smaller nonprofits. Search for organizations by using the Nonprofit Locator, which has over one million tax-exempt entities in the U.S.

Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance
From the Better Business Bureau. Before donating to a national charity, visit this site to learn how the group is organized and what percentage of funds actually go to the course. Site also has a "Wise Giving" guide and "Tips on Charitable Giving" guide.

NCNeighbors
Directory of area nonprofits. Site includes 2500 North Carolina nonprofits searchable by category and geographic area. Also includes a calendar of events.

NonProfit Gateway
A network of links to federal government infomation resources.

North Carolina Center for Nonprofits
The NC Center for nonprofits is "a statewide network for board and staff in 501(c)(3)nonprofits, an information center on effective practices, and an advocate for the nonprofit sector as a whole." Search this site to find information on the center and its activities. Includes an excellent "Frequently Asked Questions" link.

North Carolina State Government Support for NonProfits
Maintained by the NC State Auditor's Office, this site lists private nonprofit agencies which receive state funds. It reports the amount each agency received, and provides a brief indication of the purpose of the funds.

Triangle Community Foundation
Foundation that provides grants to nonprofit agencies in Wake, Durham, Orange and Chatham counties. Application is available under "grantmaking."
