2011 Volunteer of the Year Award
Congratulations, Friends Book Sorters! The group received the 2011 Volunteer of the Year Award at an April 25 ceremony hosted by the Volunteer Center of Durham. Nominated by Ann Wilder, President of the Friends of the Durham Library, the 20-plus book sorters were chosen over twelve other outstanding Durham volunteer groups.

Friends book sorters interrupted their volunteer work for a few minutes on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 to hear warm words of congratulations and thanks from Tammy Baggett, library director.

Library Director Tammy Baggett unveils a poster-sized replica of the Volunteer of the Year Award, which is mounted in the Main Library garage where the Friends book sorters work every Tuesday morning.
